Edwin E. S. Kim(Eung Soo Kim) is an internationally acclaimed violinist, widely recognized for his deeply expressive artistry and visionary programming. He has performed as a soloist with leading orchestras across Europe and beyond, including the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, Göttingen Symphony Orchestra, Biel Symphony Orchestra, Regensburg Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, among others. He has appeared at prestigious festivals such as the Litomyšl Festival, where his 2014 performance with conductor Leoš Svárovský and the Pardubice Chamber Orchestra received a record-breaking 15 curtain calls and a standing ovation.
From 2012 to 2019, Edwin served as Artistic Director of the Lech Classic Music Festival, leading sold-out performances that were broadcast by ORF TV and radio. Since 2015, he has been the Artistic Director of Camerata SOL, curating groundbreaking projects such as The Twelve Seasons in 2023, a bold reinterpretation of Vivaldi, Piazzolla, and Richter’s Four Seasons, and An Invitation from Mozart in 2024, a special concert commemorating Mozart’s 268th birthday with a complete performance of the composer’s violin concertos. In 2025, he successfully completed the monumental 3B Series, presenting the violin concertos of Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms, and earning critical acclaim for his profound interpretations and artistic depth. Through these pioneering and artistically profound projects, he continues to push the boundaries of classical music interpretation, shaping Camerata SOL into a force of musical innovation.
Edwin has performed with Korea’s leading orchestras, including the KBS Symphony Orchestra, the Korean National Symphony Orchestra, and the Busan Philharmonic Orchestra. Notably, he delivered standout performances at the Symphony Festival held at the Seoul Arts Center in 2014, 2019, and 2024, leaving a significant mark on Korea’s classical music scene.
His extraordinary musicianship has been recognized through top prizes at major international competitions, including the Tibor Varga, Rodolfo Lipizer, Spohr, Maria Canals, and Zinetti competitions. He is a Thomastik-Infeld Artist and has released albums under Decca and Universal Music. His albums Das Leben and Mein Wiener Herz received widespread acclaim, with both albums reaching number one in sales and reviews.
Born in Seoul, Edwin pursued his studies at some of Europe’s most prestigious institutions, including the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, and the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media. He studied under renowned violinists Boris Kuschnir, Igor Ozim, and Krzysztof Węgrzyn, whose mentorship profoundly shaped his musical artistry. He currently serves as Professor of Violin at Hanyang University in Seoul.
